Job Description

POSITION:

Early Childhood Assistant Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters Degree in Early Childhood or in a related educational field, preferably experience with Preschool through Grade 3
  2. New Jersey Supervisor Certificate
  3. New Jersey Teacher of Preschool through Grade 3 or New Jersey Elementary School Teacher Certificate
  4. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

REPORTS TO:

Early Childhood Principal

JOB GOAL:

to create and supervise an Early Childhood Program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth for pupil, to build strong ties between home and school, and to establish good relationships with parents and staff members 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in the development of instructional materials with a wide range of mental. Physical and emotional maturities suitable for the instruction of Early Childhood students.
  2. Assists in the planning and coordinating the work of teacher aides, teacher assistance, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on study trips to obtain the maximum benefit from their efforts.
  3. Assists in developing activities for parents that promote parent participation and involvement in Early Childhood education activities for their children.
  4. Assists in interpreting Early Childhood program to parents to strengthen understanding of the needs of Early Childhood students and the school's role in the student's life.
  5. Assists in reviewing and making recommendations for the assessments used for evaluating students throughout the school year and the data obtained from the assessments.
  6. Assists in developing and preparing budget that will provide for the instructional materials necessary for Early Childhood program, for staff development for all Early Childhood staff, and for other needs necessary for an effective program.
  7. Assists in establishing and overseeing curriculum in response to districts goals and state requirements and assuring that curriculum is implemented in the classroom.
  8. Assists with meeting with other program specialists and program directors to ensure that the Early Childhood program and the curriculum integrate with other district programs and the N.J. Core Curriculum Content Standards
  9. Assists the principal and the Director of Early Childhood to evaluate the effectiveness of the Early Childhood Program and make recommendations for changes

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

10 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board polices and procedures om the evaluation of professional staff.
