Job Description

POSITION:

Maintenance Class B– Grounds, Vehicles and Equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum High School Diploma 
  2. Valid N.J. Driver’s License 
  3. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status

REPORTS TO:

Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds

JOB GOAL:

To provide General Maintenance responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.  

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs Grounds Maintenance as directed which includes but not limited to, grass cutting, athletic field maintenance, painting, and tree trimming. 
  2. Performs minor vehicle maintenance such as oil and filter changes, tire rotations, and vehicle safety inspections. 
  3. Performs District owned equipment maintenance such as, lubrication to chain driven equipment, oil, oil filter, and air filter changes, clean and replace spark plugs. 
  4. Performs school building maintenance functions such as ceiling tile replacement, floor tile repair, and replacement. 
  5. Performs painting and drywall repair as directed. 
  6. Assists as assigned with the Buildings and Grounds department, Electrician, and HVAC Mechanic.  
  7. Completes work orders as assigned. 
  8. Responsible for maintaining all assigned tools and supplies. 
  9. Performs carpentry work as directed. 
  10. Assist with plumbing work as directed such as drain clearing, pipe installations, valve replacement, and water filter changes 
  11. Assemble and adjust school and office furniture as directed. 
  12. Install dispensers such as toilet tissue, paper towel, hand soap, and hand sanitizer. 
  13. Conduct roof inspections as directed. 
  14. Conduct playground equipment inspections as directed. 
  15. Repair door systems, window systems, and locks. 
  16. Install dry erase boards, white boards, and bulletin boards as assigned. 
  17. Locate and make repairs to roof leaks. 
  18. Perform snow removal via snowplow operation, snow blowers, tractors, and hand shoveling as needed. 
  19. Perform parking lot salting with salt spreading equipment. 
  20. Repair and or replace school signage inside and outside as directed. 
  21. Adheres to the District Vehicle Use Policy. 
  22. Performs other duties as required by the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds or the School Business Administrator. 

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on the evaluation of professional staff.
