STEM Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred but not required) in Science, Mathematics, or Technology from an accredited college or university.
  2. NJDOE Supervisor certificate required.
  3. Preferred but not required: Hold a degree or equivalent a secondary (K-12) New Jersey Instructional certificate in the area of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biological Science, Physical Science, and/or Technology Education.
  4. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

REPORTS TO:

Director of Math and Science

JOB GOAL:

Under the direction of the Director of Math and Science, the STEM Instructional Supervisor (K-12) is responsible for providing guidance to teachers, parents, content supervisors, and administrators on STEM-related instruction and educational resources. To support the district's mission and goal of increasing student interest and exposure in STEM related fields and adequately prepare students for college and careers in STEM fields. Responsibilities involve developing, executing, and providing systemic STEM-centric opportunities to teachers, parents, content supervisors, and administrators. The STEM Instructional Supervisor (K-12) assists the Director of Math and Science in developing an aligned STEM-centric curriculum documents, providing professional development for staff, and developing a budget based on analysis of needs. Special assignments are received through conferences, written instructions, and requests from the Director of Math and Science.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Demonstrate expertise in facilitating the implementation of project-based and active learning models through the delivery of resources, professional development, intervention, and support.
  2. The development, organization, implementation, and coordination of STEM-focused instructional programs in grades PreK-12.
  3. Working collaboratively to lead, nurture, and supervise members of the teaching staff to ensure that all teachers provide students with the necessary skills such to effectively engage learners, support their unique needs, increase school achievement, and adequately prepare students for college and careers.
  4. Providing direct support to all classroom teachers, content supervisors, and administrators in the area STEM-centric lessons that support CCSS, CCR, and NGSS.
  5. Assisting in both short and long-range planning for the improvement of the STEM program.
  6. Knowledge of state standards, NGSS, CCSS, and alternative modes of assessment.
  7. Experience in writing curriculum framework guides for science or math or an integrated curriculum desired.
  8. Experience in writing and managing STEM grants and budgets preferred.
  9. Thorough knowledge of STEM pedagogy and current STEM trans disciplinary practices required.
  10. Experience in leading staff development initiatives.
  11. Demonstrated skill in effective human relations and in oral and written communications.
  12. Assists school administration with developing school schedules based on student needs and interests.
  13. Makes suggestions about the renovation of science, mathematics, and stem classrooms and labs to better serve as an extension of the curriculum.
  14. Perform such other duties as requested or assigned by the Director of Math and Science.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on the evaluation of professional staff.
