POSITION:

Summer Food Service Program- Monitor 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a current Food Services Manager. 
  2. High School Diploma or GED. 
  3. Two years of experience as cook involving the preparation and cooking of a variety of food in large quantities in the kitchen of a school, restaurant or hospital. 
  4. Knowledge of the regulations of the National School Lunch, Breakfast, After School Snack and Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Programs. 
  5. Have and maintain Serve Safe Certification. 
  6. Have knowledge of HACCP. 
  7. Computer literate, experience with MS Word and Excel programs. 
  8. Ability to read, write, understand and or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position. 
  9. Ability to carry out directions and to learn quickly. 
  10. Ability to make estimates of quantities and menu requirements, and adjust recipes to servings required. 
  11. Ability to develop, assign and supervise the work of the food service staff. 
  12. Ability to keep accurate records. 
  13. Valid driver’s license and transportation. 
  14. Self-motivated, work well independently and possess high degree of management skills. 

REPORTS TO:

Food Services Director

JOB GOAL:

To serve as a direct link between the BFSD’s administrative office and the food service sites. Monitors provide valuable feedback about how the sites are operating by visiting sites on a regular basis and observing meal services. They help prevent problems from occurring and correct any problems that arise at the sites.  

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Required to perform site visits and site reviews at various times throughout program operations. 
  2. Observe complete meal services from beginning to end, including delivery or preparation of meals. 
  3. Determine if meals are served within the approved meal service time and are being served in a safe and sanitary manner. 
  4. Ensure meals are counted correctly by category and at the point of service. 
  5. Determine if meals are served to all attending children, regardless of the child's race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. Assure all children have equal access to services and facilities at the site. 
  6. Review daily records kept by the sites. Check that they are complete and accurate. 
  7. Conduct follow-up visits for any serious deficiencies that were identified during a site visit or review to ensure that permanent corrective action has been implemented. 
  8. Check for required postings -"And Justice for All" poster, menu and other postings required by the sponsor. 
  9. Complete Monitor review forms. Discuss any issues with the site supervisor and the action to be taken to correct them. 
  10. Provide technical assistance and training as needed to the site supervisor. 
  11. Submit all required SFSP documents to Food Services Directors in a timely manner. 

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

As needed for duration of the Summer Food Services Program.
