POSITION:
District Network/Technology Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Educational Technology or Computer Science.
- Strong database development background
- Work experience in a CISCO network environment.
- CCNA/Microsoft Network Certification desirable.
- Ability to provide effective staff development
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Technology
JOB GOAL:
To maintain and support Network throughout the School District. Provide district-wide data programming, support and staff professional development.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides technology support and assistance for:
- Technology staff
- Administrative staff
- Building staff
- District staff
- Diagnosis/resolves technical problems for:
- Building-wide LAN Networks
- District-wide LAN Networks
- Microsoft Office 2000/XP/98
- All desktop applications
- Any other administrative software package purchased in the future.
- Provides database programming and support for:
- Administrative staff
- Technology staff
- Acts as resource person, giving demonstrations, training, and/or sharing articles and materials as requested by staff and/or administration, for creating and maintaining databases.
- Administers district enterprise network/ virus protection system.
- Assists in the planning, development and deployment of future district network expansions and upgrades.
- Administers the district and building servers.
- Oversees the development of and manages the backup of all District systems.
- Manages District wide technology inventory.
- Manages District wide technology repairs/maintenance.
- Oversees and administers the District Telephone System.
- Previews software programs, reads journals and articles, attends conferences, demonstrations and workshops, networks with others in the field to keep abreast of trends and significant developments in technology.
- Assists in long range planning for database programming and help desk services in unison with the District Technology Plan.
- Meets regularly with the District Technology Coordinator and ongoing committees to articulate and address database programming, help desk and networking questions, initiatives or concerns.
- Demonstrates a willingness to devote the additional time and attention required to resolve emergency situations when hardware or software is malfunctioning.
- Conducts needs assessments and makes annual budgeting recommendations for all schools, in consultation with the District Technology Coordinator and other appropriate staff.
- Prepares requisitions and details information sheets for the ordering of technology equipment, software or supplies, where appropriate, checks orders as they arrive, corrects shipping errors and maintains records.
- Gives proper attention to the care and protection of school property and uses materials economically.
- Maintains cordial and workable professional and social relationships with other members of the professional and non-professional staff.
- Adheres to and promotes the philosophy and objectives of the school, the administrative staff and the Board of Education and interprets the policies and programs of the school in a positive and constructive manner.
- Performs other duties, as required by the District Technology Coordinator and Superintendent of Schools.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with state law and the provisions of the Board of Education’s Policy on Evaluation of Non-Certified staff.
