POSITION:

District Network/Technology Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. BS in Educational Technology or Computer Science.
  2. Strong database development background
  3. Work experience in a CISCO network environment.
  4. CCNA/Microsoft Network Certification desirable.
  5. Ability to provide effective staff development
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship.

REPORTS TO:

Director of Technology

JOB GOAL:

To maintain and support Network throughout the School District. Provide district-wide data programming, support and staff professional development.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides technology support and assistance for:
    1. Technology staff
    2. Administrative staff
    3. Building staff
    4. District staff
  2. Diagnosis/resolves technical problems for:
    1. Building-wide LAN Networks
    2. District-wide LAN Networks
    3. Microsoft Office 2000/XP/98
    4. All desktop applications
    5. Any other administrative software package purchased in the future.
  3. Provides database programming and support for:
    1. Administrative staff
    2. Technology staff
  4. Acts as resource person, giving demonstrations, training, and/or sharing articles and materials as requested by staff and/or administration, for creating and maintaining databases.
  5. Administers district enterprise network/ virus protection system.
  6. Assists in the planning, development and deployment of future district network expansions and upgrades.
  7. Administers the district and building servers.
  8. Oversees the development of and manages the backup of all District systems.
  9. Manages District wide technology inventory.
  10. Manages District wide technology repairs/maintenance.
  11. Oversees and administers the District Telephone System.
  12. Previews software programs, reads journals and articles, attends conferences, demonstrations and workshops, networks with others in the field to keep abreast of trends and significant developments in technology.
  13. Assists in long range planning for database programming and help desk services in unison with the District Technology Plan.
  14. Meets regularly with the District Technology Coordinator and ongoing committees to articulate and address database programming, help desk and networking questions, initiatives or concerns.
  15. Demonstrates a willingness to devote the additional time and attention required to resolve emergency situations when hardware or software is malfunctioning.
  16. Conducts needs assessments and makes annual budgeting recommendations for all schools, in consultation with the District Technology Coordinator and other appropriate staff.
  17. Prepares requisitions and details information sheets for the ordering of technology equipment, software or supplies, where appropriate, checks orders as they arrive, corrects shipping errors and maintains records.
  18. Gives proper attention to the care and protection of school property and uses materials economically.
  19. Maintains cordial and workable professional and social relationships with other members of the professional and non-professional staff.
  20. Adheres to and promotes the philosophy and objectives of the school, the administrative staff and the Board of Education and interprets the policies and programs of the school in a positive and constructive manner.
  21. Performs other duties, as required by the District Technology Coordinator and Superintendent of Schools.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with state law and the provisions of the Board of Education’s Policy on Evaluation of Non-Certified staff.
